Srinagar: After the alarming increase in Covid-19 cases in S.M.H.S., the main hospital in Srinagar. The hospital decided to close its outpatient department (OPD) from Saturday.
The hospital authorities stated that the hospital would only perform emergency operations before further operations.
At a meeting chaired by principal government medical college in Srinagar, all the heads of the various departments of the college attended the meeting. The meeting decided that in addition to the paid rooms in the hospital, twelve wards will be designated as Covid wards.
“At present we have adequate supply of oxygen and other requirements to deal with Covid patients”, said Nazir Chowdhary, superintendent of the hospital.
S.M.H.S. Hospital is the main secondary health care institution in Srinagar City, and Soura of the Super specialty Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) is the main tertiary health care facility.
